Medical Centre is a sports medicine centre that offers its patients the possibility of carrying out the examination and certification of competitive sports fitness quickly, with various types of instrumental tests and functional tests for the evaluation of all those who, from childhood to older age, practice sports on a competitive or recreational or recreational basis.
The purpose of sports medicine is primary prevention, that is, the adoption of interventions and behaviours capable of avoiding or reducing upstream the onset and development of a disease or an unfavourable event; secondary prevention, that is, the early diagnosis of a pathology through screening that allows early intervention and increases therapeutic opportunities, improving progression and reducing negative effects; finally, tertiary prevention, that is, the use of the prescription of personalized physical exercise in order to reduce the consequences of a given pathology from which one is affected.
What is, then, the purpose of sports medicine? Promote sport, make everyone play sports safely and use sport or physical exercise as a therapy.
How is the sports medical examination carried out?
The rules on sports medicine indicate different ways of performing this visit depending on the type of certificate required, competitive or non-competitive.
This provision is not always precise, because the type of physical but especially cardiovascular commitment is not associated with the type of certificate required, usually those who request the non-competitive certificate undergo, during physical activity, to an even greater effort than the agonist subject, but above all this follows strict training and preparation programs for competitions, unlike the non-agonist who is a child or the elderly, in most cases, performs a sport without athletic preparation or knowledge of the training rules; therefore, why classify the type of visit and the type of certificate only by age or type of society chosen to do sports?
Those who request the non-competitive certificate are subjected to an accurate personal and family history, an objective examination, the evaluation of the visus and an electrocardiogram at rest; in addition, those who request the agonistic certificate are subjected to a urine test, a spirometric examination, and an electrocardiogram not only at rest but during physical effort. The latter is very important because the evaluation of the ECG during physical effort and recovery can highlight unknown pathologies and not visible at rest, evaluate the presence of arrhythmias the coronary reserve.
